Artist Statement
I am a Door County painter and photographer who is continously seduced by the amazing, lush woodlands, the rolling farmlands and varied coastline of this beautiful Wisconsin peninsula. When I am out photographing I know right away if a particular photo is good for a painting or if it will be a great photo. I also enjoy sketching and painting "en plein air", surrounding myself with nature.
About Elizabeth
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a degree in art education. I have taken graduate classes at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill and I most recently continue my art studies with amazing instructors at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek.... my favorite place!
My paintings are represented at Margaret Lockwood's WOODWALK GALLERY in Egg Harbor and my photography can be seen by appointment only at my Eames Farm barn, called Picket Fence Studio. Call me at 920-868-3810. I have a solo show up at Door Peninsula Winery's new gallery in Carlesville through the middle of April, 2012.
Most recently, two of my paintings were in the salon show at Peninsula School of Art's Guenzel Gallery and featured in the "Peninsula Pulse " and "The Door County Advocate" newspapers. My work is also in private collections. I was very honored to be juried into The Hardy Gallery in 2010 and 2011.
My husband John and I "retired" here in 2008. My background has been in art and in the fitness business, and I teach an adult fitness class at the Northern Door YMCA. John and I are both advid cooks, gardeners and lovers of the Door County outdoors. Of course, we love having our children and two grandsons come to visit! What a tranquil place for an artist and her family! I am happy!
